Belgica 2006

Exhibition Report by Charles Bromser, Australian Commissioner

Belgica 2006 was the fourth World Philatelic Exhibition to be held in Brussels, Belgium since 1971.  It was held over the period 16 to 20 November 2006.  As in the past the exhibition was staged on the site of the 1958 World Fair at Heysel, which is some distance from the city centre.  The venue was large and spacious, occupying two halls with Bruphila '06, a Belgium National exhibition being held concurrently.

The exhibition consisted of some 563 exhibits in the four main different classes represented: Youth, Thematic, Open and One Frame.  Australia had 14 entries accepted, made up of 45 frames, including seven one frame exhibits.

The jury comprised thirty-eight jurors and three apprentices, with Charles Bromser being one of the apprentices in Thematics.
