The Brighton Philatelic Society in Victoria has announced the formation of a new Junior Stamp Club which will be launched on Sunday 24 February at 1:30pm. The club is designed for children from 8 to 12 but attendance of younger or older children can be catered for if they are interested.
The club will meet on selected Sundays at Bri-Phil House, 80 Gardenvale Road, Gardenvale with the following program for 2008 (all meetings at 1:30pm):
February 24
April 6 (last Sunday of school holidays)
May 25
July 13 (last Sunday of school holidays - includes stamp auction)
September 21 (first Sunday of school holidays)
November 2
December 21 (includes stamp auction)
Meetings are expected to last about 1 hour with parents welcome to stay. Membership is just $1 per annum. The club's library will be open on the same afternoon so senior members of the society will be around in addition to the Convenor of Junior Activities. Note, children must bring their stamp albums to each meeting.
The inaugural meeting will coincide with a special event celebrating 100 years of scouting which is also being held at Bri-Phil House from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 24 February. On the day there will be displays of stamps and other material relating to scouting, sale of special covers with the three scout stamps to be released on 19 February and other activities including a few stamp dealers.
