| Canberra Stampshow 2008 |
Canberra Stampshow 2008 was held from the 14th to
16th March in the Hellenic Club, Woden which is a suburb south of the city. The
exhibition which attracted approximately 350 frames of exhibits was a
Half-National comprising of Aerophilately, Postal History, Maximaphily,
Revenues, Social, First Day Covers, Literature and Open Class. Held in
conjunction was a State Level Exhibition and Postcards.
The theme of the exhibition was the 100th Anniversary of Scouting in Australia with the Chief Scout Commissioner in Australia, John Ravenhall AM opening the exhibition The Scouting theme included a number of invited exhibits, displays of scouting memorabilia as well as souvenir products being sold by the organising committee. The Palmares was held in the Aegean Room at the Hellenic Club on the Saturday night. John Dibiase's entry The Fiscal Stamps of Western Australia was judged as the Best Entry in the Show, the prize being a framed display of Scouting Centenary Stamps donated by Australia Post.
