The ShowMan Data
ShowMan has a large store of data collected over the years from a variety of sources. The main sets are:
- Names and addresses of every Australian exhibitor, or foreign exhibitors who have entered in Australian Exhibitions.
- Title, Description and Class of every exhibit owned by these exhibitors.
- Results of the judging of these exhibits, since April 1984.
- Details of every Stamp Show since April 1984 in which Australian exhibitors participated, at World, National and State levels.
- Definitions of the Judging Criteria of every FIP class and all approved APF classes.
- Definitions of the Awards available in all these classes, for State, National or World level exhibitions.
This data is very likely not error free, but the errors remaining are mostly obscure, or are due to inadequate data available to us when we retrieved much of it from old Show Catalogues and Palmares documents. It has been honed considerably over the past 3 years, eliminating many of the errors and omissions. The data is limited by what has been reported: if a Show has not been reported, or an entry to an overseas exhibition has not been reported to the APF, then it is of course not included in the database.
The Data is in an MS Access Database. The data and the Programs that operate on it are in separate databases, so that either can be updated without affecting the other, in most cases.
