Hafnia '01

Exhibition Report by Bernard Doherty, Australian Commissioner

Hafnia '01 was a limited class International philatelic exhibition held at the Bella Center, Copenhagen, Denmark from October 16 to 21, 2001.  The exhibition classes and number of frames were:  Traditional (1191), Thematics (798), Literature (164) and Open (299).

The exhibition covered a very large area.  It was well laid out and included 87 trade stands and 53 postal administrations plus many other attractions.  A live show stage operated every day.  There was a large children's area as well as large tanks of stamps on paper for everyone to sort through.  Administration support was excellent, and the several organised dinners featured interesting live entertainment as well as excellent food.  Transport was provided to and from the exhibition by bus, and by coach to the various social venues.

Ten Australians participated, details of their entries and results are provided below.  Four made the journey to Copenhagen of which three attended the Palmares where Large Gold medals and the Grand Prix were presented.  The medals were watches.  One exhibitor attended the medal presentation on the Sunday.  All other medals and certificates were picked up with the exhibits.
