Philexfrance 99 was a vary large and expensive philatelic event held over ten days from 2 - 11 July 1999. The exhibition was held at the Porte de Versailles exhibition complex in one very large hall occupying 50,000 squire metres. The theme of the exhibition was The History of Postal Transport and there were many large static displays containing actual trains, planes, boats, rockets, mail coaches, etc.
There were 86 Postal Administrations and 167 dealer stands and about 3,600 frames of exhibits. Australia had 10 participating exhibitors plus three literature entries. Four of the exhibits were awarded gold medals and all the other non literature entries received a large or small vermeil.
