APF Centenary of Federation Youth Competition

The APF Centenary of Federation Youth Competition reached its penultimate stage with the announcement of National winners from the State finalists following final judging of entries in Canberra on Sunday, 19 August, 2001.

The competition called for persons up to 17 years of age to design a stamp on "Celebration of the Century of Federation" with those aged 14 to 17 having the choice of submitting a 3 page project instead.  A total of 2,125 entries were received in the three age groups.

   National Winners

The entries in the National level competition were of a very high standard and the judging panel was very impressed with all the entries. State Finalists in the 3 Page Project Competition

Three Page Project - 14 to 17 Years

The three first prize winners have been invited to visit the 2001 Centennial Stampshow at Brisbane to receive their awards. Return travel expenses and one night’s accommodation will be paid for the prizewinner and one chaperone to attend the show and receive the award. Australia Post and the APF have donated travel and accommodation expenses. The award is an APF medal.

The second prize winners each receive a $100 voucher to spend at APTA stamp dealers. The third prize winners will each receive a $75 voucher to spend at an APTA stamp dealers. The vouchers have been donated by the Australasian Philatelic Traders’ Association (APTA) and will remain current for twelve months.

The APF congratulates all the winners and participants on a tremendous efforts. A special vote of thanks must be extended to all State and Territory Youth Officers and Youth Leaders for achieving such overwhelming support in the competition.
