| Introducing John Sadler, APF Philatelic Development Officer |
With
the elevation of Darryl Fuller to Vice-President at the 2009 APF AGM, John
Sadler has been elected as the new Philatelic Development Officer.
John has been collecting for 30 years, primarily Australian Air Mails and Australian First Day Covers, and has exhibited in both of these classes. John enjoys exhibiting and has successfully represented both New South Wales and Australia in various Challenges. He has been an accredited State level judge for 8 years, and has recently completed his apprenticeship at National level.
For most of his collecting life, John has been a member of the local Stamp Club, initially Kingsgrove Philatelic Society, then Earlwood and Districts Stamp Club following Kingsgrove's merger with Dulwich Hill - Marrickville in 1997. John has been the Treasurer for 18 years, and has served as President.
John joined the Philatelic Development Council (PDC) of the Philatelic Association of NSW, Inc, in 2005, holding the office of Public Relations Officer, and has been heavily involved in the organisation of Sydney Stamp Expo 2007 and the annual Northern Beaches Stamp Expos. He developed the website for Sydney Stamp Expo 2007, and is currently developing a PDC website.
Always interested in research, John has written many articles which have appeared in magazines in Australia and Great Britain.
John is a great advocate of transparency, believing that in this world of virtually instant everything, that the ready availability of information is the key to the future development of the hobby, not only through websites, but also the printed media and strategically placed promotional material, and clubs and societies should be encouraged to provide easily accessible communication options
