The fields on this window are self-explanatory.

You can only use ShowMan with a valid UserID and a valid Password.  These will be supplied when you receive the CD on which ShowMan is distributed.

Both the UserID and the Password are case-sensitive, i.e. you must enter them with capital letters and lower case letters exactly as supplied.  If any character is wrong, you will get a message and ShowMan will close immediately.

When you enter the password the characters will NOT be shown on the screen as you type them, so that somebody who happens to look over your shoulder won't see the password.

It is important that you keep the password confidential.  Do not write it on anything near the computer.  If you must write it down, keep the piece of paper in your wallet.

After you type the password, select the method of using ShowMan that suits you best, then click the "Log In" button. Two methods are available, a default has been selected, but you can change this.

A message will show you that backups have been created in C:\ShowMan\Backup.

If you do not supply the correct data, ShowMan will not start.

If you make a gross blunder while working on ShowMan, you can stop immediately, and then copy the appropriate backup files to C:\ShowMan, delete the corrupted file and rename as required to remove the date and the Short Showname. That puts you back to the point before you made blunder.

Under normal circumstances ShowMan backs up its data as it proceeds, i.e. each record is saved when you start to look at another record.

If you have many short sessions, you will have many backup files. As these are all close to 5MB you should clean these up regularly, or your C:\ drive will fill up quickly.
