Taipei 2005

Taipei 2005, 18th Asian International Stamp Exhibition was from 19 - 24 August at the Taipei World Trade Center. The organisers were: the Ministry of Transport and Communications' Chungwa Post & the Tourism Bureau, the Chinese Taipei Philatelic Federation, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council and China Airlines.
The exhibition was sponsored by FIAP and had FIP recognition hence all exhibits that achieved a Large Vermeil or better will qualify for an eight frames allocation at their next FIP exhibition. The jury comprised of thirty jurors and ten apprentices from thirteen countries; from Australia we had jurors: Raymond Todd (Jury Vice President), Bernard Beston (Literature / Revenues), Yung Benson (Youth) and apprentice Charles Bromser (Thematics).
Two of the Australian exhibits were Best in Class and also the best One-Frame. There were scores of dealers, international post offices and societies' stands. Attendance was very good with a constant flow of people without the pressure of vast throngs or long waiting queues. The exhibition coincided with a Taipei Food extravaganza next door, thus visitors were free to move between both shows at no cost.
