Welpex 2003
The event was staged at the Queen's Wharf Events Centre, a prestige venue located on the waterside in central Wellington. Twenty dealers attended and the Jury was chaired by Keith Griffiths and comprised 14 jury members, two from Australia, John DiBiase and Dingle Smith, plus 2 apprentice jurors and a separate judging team for the postcard entries. There were 32 exhibitors from Australia with 40 exhibits and 176 frames. All Australian exhibitors complied with the request for title pages.
The Awards dinner was held at the Skyline Restaurant, Kilburn, a ten-minute drive by taxi from the hotel. The high altitude setting of the Skyline provided a magnificent panorama of Wellington City and its harbour. The Grand Award was to Gerald Elliot for Royal Navy Seamen Concession Postal Rates 1795-1912.
